I'm a Florida based artist raised in Anderson, South Carolina. I strive to create works that will forever intrigue and lure the viewer’s attention. I'm influenced by an appreciation for wistful nostalgia, fine art and vintage illustration.
I enjoy drawing and painting just about everything under the sun -- especially people. My work is mostly figurative but not exclusively. I like to seek out rarely viewed encounters of people as they go about their daily routine, presenting them in an interesting and colorful way.
In my studio, I regularly experiment with a variety of design approaches in order to express a particular mood or narrative. Essentially, each project is another challenge to convey my work as if it were a visual poem.
I want the viewer to have a unique experience while interpreting my work. Hopefully awakening something within them that has impact and translates as meaningful.
In 1976, Thomas acquired formal training through a scholarship to Parsons School of Design in New York City. Mentoring renown artists, Joe Bowler and Murray Tinkelman encouraged Thomas to focus his art studies within the school's Department of Illustration.
During his first year as a student, Thomas was hired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art as an illustrator for the museum’s costume reproduction department. This additional opportunity allowed him to further develop and enhance his drawing and painting skills, which greatly influenced his artistic journey.
Since then, Thomas has been actively creating original fine art projects for various public and private collectors, museums, universities and galleries. His work is exhibited throughout the United States and internationally.
